About Ken

After close to thirty years of custom furniture building, and sixteen years of running his dogsled tour business, Ken Haggett started working with stained glass in his studio in the hills of Lake Elmore, Vermont. The shifting climate made the future of dogsledding very uncertain. Seeing the writing on the wall he decided it was time to move in a new direction with something less weather related. What began as curiosity turned into a passion, and eventually, Phase 3 Glassworks Studio.

Every piece that leaves Phase 3 Glass Works is made entirely by hand. Ken selects each sheet of glass individually, cuts it to shape then grinds, foils, and solders it with the same careful attention he's brought to his work from the very beginning.

Vermont gives him plenty to work with — the seasons, the wildlife, the light through the trees. His dog portraits which began with a portrait of one of his sled dogs, have become something of a specialty, and a favorite among customers.

Ken also shares his passion through small-group classes and open studio sessions, welcoming curious beginners and practiced artists alike into his workspace.
